Hearing Loop
Medina Library is equipped with Hearing Loops
in Community Rooms A and B, the Medina Room, and at the Customer Service and Reference Desks. To reserve a meeting room that is Hearing Loop equipped visit mcdl.info/MeetingRoom.
Hearing Loop technology sends the speaker’s voice from the microphone directly to hearing assistive devices, eliminating all ambient noise. It works with cochlear implants and hearing aids equipped with a T-coil. If you have never activated the T-coil in your device it is recommended you consult with your audiologist before using the Loop. For those who do not have a personal hearing device, Loop receivers are available at the Customer Service Desk.
Watch these short videos about what a Hearing Loop is and how it works in Medina Library's Community Room. For more information visit Hearing Loop's website.
Made possible through a Libraries Transforming Communities grant from the American Library Association.
Sensory Kits
Available Children's and Reference Desks at all MCDL locations for in-library use only.
Sensory Kits are for all ages and needs but are geared toward adults and youth with autism or sensory challenges. These kits include items that can facilitate a calming affect for people dealing with sensory issues, such as stress balls, weighted lap/shoulder pads, and noise cancelling headphones.
New! - a bin of noise cancelling headphones is available at each location and service desks at Medina and Brunswick. MCDL wants the library to be a safe, calm place everyone can enjoy.
Made possible through funding from Rotary Club of Medina Sunrise and a grant from Autism Speaks.
