MCDL and all CLEVNET libraries are experiencing delays in hold times and deliveries

Ohio libraries are currently experiencing extended shipping delays resulting in longer than normal wait times for holds.

The State Library of Ohio, which manages and coordinates the distribution of our materials, recently switched delivery vendors. The new vendor, Stat Courier, is facing a severe backlog of delivery items. We hear your concerns and have shared them with both the vendor and State Library. Please be assured that State Library and the courier service are doing everything they can to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Where are my library items?

Library items are safe and sound at other libraries or in warehouses. They are waiting to be picked up and delivered to their appropriate, requested location. The delivery service is working to increase staffing and storage locations around Ohio. Like so many industries, the new delivery vendor is experiencing staffing challenges.

How long will this take?

We are hopeful that in the next 2-3 weeks items will begin moving more rapidly between libraries. Please be assured that the State Library of Ohio and Stat Courier Service are doing everything they can to resolve this issue as fast as possible.

How can the library help me while I wait?

You can still place holds!  The wait time is just longer than normal.  Our staff can help you find other versions or formats of your items such as audiobooks or large print copies. You may even want to try our eMedia services with eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies and more. Call or visit any MCDL location and we’ll help you find what you’re looking for. Of course, items that are borrowed between MCDL locations are not affected by the state’s delivery delays.

Who can I contact about this issue?

Thank you for your comments and concerns. We will share them with the State Library of Ohio. MCDL is asking for your patience and understanding during this transition.

We know how important the library is to you, and we apologize for any inconvenience this delivery issue has caused you.

We are grateful for your continued support.
